US special envoy for Afghanistan Thomas West welcomed the Taliban of Afghanistan�s decree about a women�s right to choose to marry.

"Welcome today�s decree reinforcing a woman�s right to determine if & whom she marries," tweeted West.

He also called on the Taliban to ensure women�s rights including their right to work in media.

"At the same time, much more is needed to ensure women�s rights in every aspect of Afghan society including schools, workplaces, politics and media," added West.

This comes after the Taliban on Friday released a decree on women�s rights which said women should not be considered "property" and must consent to marriage, Reuters reported.
